I am 21 1/2 weeks pregnant and I am gearing up to fly across the country with all four of my children...without another adult!

Am I crazy?
Maybe.

Adoption Timeline

9/23: Officially commit to Sasha!

9/24: Speak with Children's Aid Social Worker, arrange to have DHR hand over adoption paperwork, and begin the homestudy. Overwhelmed by responses from people we have never even met!

9/27: Mail out documents and trust monies to RR. Finish our APAC adoption classes! :) Sign release for APAC to hand over our file to private homestudy social worker. Standing in awe that God has counted us worthy of His calling!

9/30: Turned in ALL homestudy paperwork!

10/5: Scheduled home visit for Fri. Oct. 22nd. Preparing to send out USCIS documents "Application for Advanced Processing of Orphan Petition"

10/6: Sent out USCIS form...awaiting fingerprint date. Begin "Paperwork chase"

10/7: Had 7 documents notarized (5 power of attorneys and 2 child specific forms)

10/8: Sent notarized documents to Secretary of State to be apostilled. Sent request to state of MI for 3 certified copies of marriage certificate.

10/14: Mailed first packet to Sasha's country.

10/18: Received MI driving record AND confirmation from USCIS that I-600A and money has been received.

10/22: Home visit

10/23: 1 Month mark

11/23: 2 month mark..aside from spending our lives digging up paperwork, seems like nothing much is happening.

12/2: Homestudy handed off to the team in Sasha's country for critique.

12/6: Social Worker makes final changes to Homestudy, prepares it to be overnighted to USCIS. We are elated!!!

12/27: USCIS Fingerprints

1/6: USCIS approval!

1/28: Mailed 29 documents to be apostilled.

2/7: Mailed dossier

2/9: Dossier arrived in Sasha's Country!

2/24: Dossier SUBMITTED!!!!!!! 5 months waiting for our son to come home.

3/14: Received SDA appointment date of 3/28.

3/15: Booked one-way tickets; we leave in 10 days!!!

3/17: Surprise!!! We commit to adopt Anna!

3/18: Leave in 1 week!

3/25: Left Birmingham for Kyiv.

3/26: Landed in Kyiv.

3/28: SDA appointment.

3/29: Receive referrals and hop on a midnight train to the kids' region.

3/30: Met Sasha and Ana! Agree to accept their referrals.

4/14: Court...begin 10 day wait.

4/15: Arrive back in US

5/1: Leave for final trip to Ukraine

5/14: WE ARE HOME!!!! (Happy Birthday, Grandpa!)
